  1. United States goal while providing aid to Latin American countries was mainly to suppress Communism from spreading in the government. Communism, the U.S. believed, was not a very good form of government and just led to destruction, so, by befriending Latin American the U.S. could prevent this from happening. - Amanda Allaf

  7. America's goal in Aiding Latin America is that they wanted to prevent the rise of Communism. The Us aided any country as long as it wasn't Commuist. The US was extremely afraid of the Domino Theory, that of one country falls under communism surronding countries would too. This turned out to be false

  8. The US truly feared the spread of communism so much that they were willing to send aid, support, and money to any country that was threatened by an upheval. Even if the current leader was corrupt and non democratic, the US would send aid to them so they could supress the "communism". The general fear was of the Domino Theory which ended up being proved false

  16. The aim for the U.S. in their aid to Latin America was mainly due to their fear of communism throughout the world. Basically they supported all non-communist regimes to prevent the domino theory from occuring, even if these nations were lead by totalitarian dictator, which in my opinion is crossing the line.

  17. U.S troops were sent into latin american to protect u.s interests and bolster dictators friendly to them. Also the onset of the Cold WAr. American leaders became more anxious about instability in Latin American. They feared poverty in these countries made them ripe for communist takeover. The Soviet Union, they concluded, would then have more power to threaten American interests around the world.
