  1. I don't think there will ever be a good reason to go to war, unless you are being ruthlessly attacked and need to defend your people (even that has its complications). It is human nature to fight, therefore can we deny our natural instincts to defend what is rightfully ours? But then comes the question: What and who dictates what is a person's natural rights are? In most cases there is a peaceful political process that can benefit everyone. This peaceful process may result in sacrifice and compromise, but nevertheless, one can be achieved. For example in the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and other countries that US "aided"/invaded, and for what? Were we justified in doping the atomic bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki? We as Americans believe we were justified in creating our own country separate from Britain and going to war, does everyone?

  2. i do not believe that there is any logical reason to declare war. If another country is declaring war on your country, then i think it would be acceptable as a term of defense to fight back. But, i believe that violence usually leads to more violence, and could take more time to resolve problems rather than actually meeting and debating or talking it out. For example, everyone thought that during world war I it would only last a few months. False, it lasted 4 years. thats 4 years of fighting, and disputes, and world distruction. Over what? Annexing another country. Completely and tottally unnecessary. and what did that world war result to? it indirectly contributed to the Holocaust and WWII .

  3. i do not think there is a good reason to go to war. if another country is attacking your country and there isnt another option, then you should fight back. war leads to the death of many innocent people. Gahndi could have gone to war with britan, but instead he still got what he wanted using a more rational way

  4. I dont think there is a good reason to go to war. People go to war simply becuase they want something or feel that one is a threat to them. Right now, some countries are fighting over oil that can strengthen coutry's industry. If there is a reason to go to war, I think it would be to defend one's country against the other. War is simply violence that can harm innocent people like when Nazi bombed London.

  5. The only reason why war should be acceptable is if many countries agree to take out a growing threat on the world as a whole or defending their country. In many cases war is just a struggle over land or resources, but war can be a tool used to reset the economy of the world. For example the result of WW2 is that the world was able to recover from the great depression. War is never the "moral" thing to do, but is acceptable if the world needs it.

  6. i think there is are very few good reasons to ever go to war. If someone declares war on you then you should defend your country. ALso, if another country in the world starts taking over everything and will stop at nothing you i think it is ok to declare war on them, like with Hitler. But otherwise to my knowledge there is no other good reson to declare war on a country

  7. War is never a good thing, unfortunately if it is necessary we must fight. For example, when Hitler came to power he started a genocide, so we needed to fight back, this started a war. Also when you believe something so strongly and have the unfortunate need to use violence to get it, like equality, then that is another reason war may be useful. I dont think that war is the right thing and i think civil disobiediance or rather what Ghandi did was better, but he never got what he wanted completely. In these situations war may be needed.

  8. there is never a good reason to go to war. war does not solve anything, for it only creates issues. however, it isnt always a good thing to sit back and be bombed and not try to protect our selves. unfortunatley, there is no way to avoid war, its been like that since cave men..
you can never avoid fighting and arguing and violence. the only thing we can do is offer help to the suffering countries and focus our army into not killing, but helping rebuild the countries we destroyed. war is never the answer, but its the sad reality. and we have to make the best with what we have

  9. I think there is other ways to solve issues than to go to war. I do believe if we are being invaded or attacked than it is a okay to defend our country and ourselves. The cons of war are: deaths, destruction,,reparations, more violence, more anger, and terrorism. The pros of war are it prompts changes and progress in human civilization which is good.

  11. I think there is never a good reason for war. Sometimes, it is necessary. War can last so long , and it is so violent and so many peoples lifes are at risk. For example, in world war 2 we fought back to Germany. Even though many lives were lost, many other lives were saved. I think Ghandi had the best ideas, civil obedience. He is a kind of leader we need today.

  12. Amanda Allaf- I don't think there is ever a good reason to go to war. I don't believe in fighting for peace because the two contradict themselves. I am all for anti-war. Gandhi is a big inspiration because he never used violence to win. I believe that violence is the biggest form of corruption. For example World War II and I may have had a winner, but it had many casualties and most of them were innocent. It is very unjust and we can live without war.

  13. I really don't think there are many good reason to go to war(except of very rare occasions). all the war does is kill innocent civilians and soldiers. A good example of innocent civilians dying is Hiroshima. That nuclear bomb did nothing but kill almost everyone on that island. The one good example of going to war would have to be against the Hitler and the Nazis. When there are very limited options, war is probably the best way to go. america yea

  14. war... good.... what is it good for absolutely nothing

i believe that war has no good reason behind it. Unless it is completely necessary. For example when one person believes strongly about one thing that they think its necessary to get there point across violently.(Hitler)

  15. Overall war does not hold up power. It only hurts every living soul around. Hearing and thinking about bombings, shootings, and deaths is an awful image that dictators picture in people's minds. I believe war is intolerable and very hard to forgive disasterous situations. Despite the fact of dictators gaining status and prestige, it is absolutely necessary to fight back and put a stop to this. For example, The U.S fought against Hitler in World War 2 and it saved 6,000 Jews.

  16. The only reason for a nation to war is for self defense. War leaves an image in people's minds for their entire life. Also, innocent civilians die. A good example of this is the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Thousands of people died who had no say whether or not to go to war. War...What is it good for?.. Absolutely Nothing!

  17. i do not think that there is ever a good reason to go to war. I think this because the only things war can lead to are: thousands and thousands of deaths, innocent lives being lost, and relations between countries forever strained. There is always a more logical way to work out your differences then going to war. The only time it is acceptable to strike back is if you are hit by another country first.

  18. i think that war is usually a very bad idea, but on some occasions war may be neceseary. during world war II, america needed to fight against germany because they were doing terrible things to the jews so we had to go in and defend them. i think war is only ok when it is being used so we can either defend ourselves or other people we believe should be defended. -Lauren Mittman

  19. I think there are no genuine "good" reasons to go to war, but sometimes it is necessary because you cannot say that other countries will also follow this non-war policy. In this case, such as World War II, Britain and France had no choice but to declare war with Germany, but also their hesitance let Germany grow and all the horrific damage of World War II could have possibly been stopped if Britain and France intervened earlier. Though I think war is a bad thing and people oppose it, it will still continue as nations become more independent and want whats best for their individual countries. This independence is ultimately caused by growing patriotism and nationalism.

  20. I believe that the only good reason to go to war is if an agreement between the two opposing sides can not be obtained peacefully. But I feel as though once two countries are engaged in war other countries should not give aid. If in world war one, if Serbia had not enlisted the help[ of Austria world war one would never have occurred and many lives would have been spared.

  21. I think that war really should never happen and that democratic actions should come first. However sometimes war is unavoidable and necassary for example WW2. If Britain and France had not gone to war with Hitler after the invasion of Poland he would have continued to invade former german territories.

  22. No, there is no reason for people to go to war. My opinion is that maybe people going to war because they have nothing better to do. Different countries probably find the smallest things or problems for them to declare war on another country. Or they start wars by picking on the people who arent like them, and blame them for something they probably did not do. War is stupid and all it does is kill innocent people and causes trouble.

  23. While the concept of war is generally unavoidable, it should used as an extreme last resort. Nations must use all means to come to a peaceful resolution, before they just senselessly start blasting at the opposed. War is bad economically and individually and results in the death of millions of people. It really should be a last resort.

  24. yes, there is a good time to go to war. The good time to go to war is to defend your rights and your country if it is being threatened by another country. For example world war 2 Britain's was defending its rights and the rights of other countries from the Germans.

  25. No i think theres never a reason to go to war. I believe if theres a problem then negotiation is the only way to solve. Look at Canada for example, they dont mess with other countries, so other countries have no reason to go to war with them. This is what the rest of the world should do. :)

  26. yah. if hitler didnt go to war. who knows when the great depression would have ended.thats my example.com

  27. There can be a reason to go to war if countries really disagree on something, but most of the time there is not a reason to. There can be other ways to solve problems, but those don't always work.

  28. I believe that war is not always the answer to everything that we do. In order to go to war we should have already tried a bunch of other tactics in order to solve whatever problem is being disputed. However in some cases we have to take stronger measures and that sometimes means going to war. I don't believe that war is the answer, but sometimes more or less necessary. People or countries or whoever is on there way to be in a war, have reasons backing their actions. They are usually fighting for something that they believe in and want it so badly, that fighting for it is the last and final impact that they can do. In a war many lives are risked and some even taken, but at least they knew what they were fighting for. Finally, even though i don't believe violence is the resolution, eventually things get taken out of perspective and creates a war.
